Pak fires submarine-launched nuclear missile Babur-III
Lahore : Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations announced on January 10 that Pak has successfully test-fired its first ever submarine-launched cruise missile Babur-III.
The range of the missile is 450 kilometres.
The projectile was launched from an undisclosed location in the Indian Ocean.It was fired from an underwater, mobile platform which then hit its target.
Babur-III is a sea-based variant of Ground Launched Cruise Missile Babur-II, which was successfully tested earlier in December last.
The newly launched missile is built with state of the art technology which includes underwater-controlled propulsion, and advanced guidance and navigation features, duly augmented by Global Navigation, Terrain and Scene Matching Systems.
Babur-III features terrain-hugging and sea-skimming flight capabilities to evade hostile radars and air defences, in addition to certain stealth technologies.
