Nation celebrates its 68th Republic Day

The Republic Day Parade showcased India’s military strength and achievements in a range of areas and its diverse culture at the Rajpath today. President Pranab Mukherjee hoisted the Indian tri-color at Rajpath.

Soldiers of the United Arab Emirates led the parade. Delegates from UAE stood up to take photos as a contingent of 179 of their soldiers from the army, navy and air force marched past, accompanied by their military band.

Women brigades were seen marching with their head held high and a firm belief that they are equal and second to none. Retired army jawans were also in the parade.

Public present at the Rajpath witnessed tableau of the Indian Air force too. Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) contingent also marched during the parade.

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) also showcased their discipline and determination.

Senior National Cadet Corps (NCC) boys also participated in the Republic Day celebrations.

The showcase of military might and cultural diversity included everything from tanks and state-of-the-art weaponry to camels and traditional dancers. Around 100 camels from Rajasthan also took part in the parade.

The parade also included bike stunts by the armed forces, which is an annual tradition.

Before the grand finale of the event, a fly-past by the fighter jets was also presented. Jaguar, Tejas and Sukhoi aircrafts presented a spectacular event.

Patriotic songs were also played during the parade which enthralled the audience. Contingent of Gorkha Regiment also marched during the parade.

Tableau of seventeen states also participated in the Republic Day parade. State including Gujarat, Odisha, Arunachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Lakshadweep, Karnataka, Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, West Bengal, Pubjab, Tamil Nadu, Goa and Tripura presented their cultural heritage.

During the parade at Rajpath, school children from various states also presented their art and culture.

After the Republic Day parade was completed at the Rajpath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi informally interacted with the public that had gathered to witness the country’s might and prowess.
