No clue on two missing Indian clerics: Pakistan
Three days after two Indian clerics, including the 82-year-old head priest of Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin Dargah, went missing in Pakistan, Islamabad on Friday said they have no clue about their whereabouts.
The statement from Pakistani Foreign Office has annoyed the family members of the clerics back home. Nafees Zakaria Pakistan Foreign Office spokesperson conveyed to India on 17th March that it was “seriously pursuing” with its law enforcement agencies the case of two missing Indian clerics, an issue MEA Sushma Swaraj said has been taken up with the Pakistani government.
The Dargah administration has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking an intervention in the matter. “We fear that either they have been kidnapped by the militants or were taken into custody by intelligence agencies there,” said a cleric at the Dargah.
Exchanges between clerics of the Nizamuddin Dargah and the Daata Darbar in Pakistan are part of a regular tradition.
