Preparations underway for local polls in Nepal
Preparations for local polls in Nepal are in full swing. Ballot papers, ballot boxes, voter ID cards and other election material is being sent to various parts of the country.
There will be more than 18,500 polling centres across the country. Capital Kathmandu will have the highest 686 and Manang will have the lowest 28 polling centres.
More than 1.40 crore (One crore forty lakh) voters will exercise their franchise in local elections. Polling for 744 local bodies will be held in two phases on May 14 and June 14.
The Election Commission of Nepal has also launched a mobile app and a toll-free telephone number to address election-related queries. Various information about polls is available on app in Nepali and English.
