India, Turkey must make more effort towards economic ties: PM
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday addressed India – Turkey Business Summit, attended by visiting Turkish President Erdogan, in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Modi said that India and Turkey share strong economic relations and he urged both nations to make an effort to maximise the potential that exists.
PM also mentioned that the government has planned to build 50 million houses across the country by year 2022 and for this purpose, FDI Policy in construction sector has been refined.
Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan was accorded a ceremonial reception at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi on Monday.
The visiting dignitary will hold wide-ranging talks with President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice President Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi on key bilateral and regional issues.
The talks are likely to focus on India’s NSG membership bid and ways to strengthen cooperation in counter-terrorism and trade among other issues. The Turkish President who arrived in the national capital on Sunday is on a two day visit to India.
It is the first official trip at the presidential level from Turkey to India in seven years.
The Turkish President also paid tributes to Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
