Pakistan continues to be isolated on issue of terrorism

Despite increasing international pressure, Pakistan refuses to see reason. Attempts at infiltration and ceasefire violations have not stopped and Pakistan continues with its policy of aiding and abetting cross border terrorism into India.

Now even International experts believe that India is in no mood to take this lying down and will step up counter attacks like surgical strikes and destruction of Pakistan’s check posts along the LoC.

The US believes that India is moving diplomatically towards isolating Pakistan, and can take punitive steps to deter Pakistan’s support for cross-border terrorism.

Lt. Gen Vincent Stewart, director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency told members of the Senate Armed Services Committee, during a hearing on worldwide threats.

“India has sought and continues to move to isolate Pakistan diplomatically and is considering punitive options to raise the cost to Islamabad for its alleged support to cross- border terrorism”

Stewart’s statement comes a day after the Indian army released a video of it destroying Pakistani posts across the Line of Control in the Naushera sector, which were providing cover fire for infiltrators.

The army is well aware of the prospect of an increased risk of infiltration due to melting snow… and will take pre-emptive steps against the infiltration of terrorists into Kashmir.

The action taken in Naushera is clear indication that government of India has given the Indian Army complete support and freedom to retaliate against Pakistan’s mis-adventures at a place and time of its choosing and this is something Pakistan must understand.

Pakistan was obviously taken aback by the action in Naushera. The Pakistani Air Force has claimed it flew sorties of fighter jets in Skardu near Siachen Glacier, a claim dismissed as false and baseless by the Indian Air Force.

US Gen Vincent Stewert told the US senate committee that bilateral relations between India and Pakistan have worsened because of continued terror attacks and violence in Jammu and Kashmir and that in 2017 relations between the two countries will only get worse.

During his recent visit to Saudi Arabia, US President Donald Trump had admitted that India is a victim of terrorism, a clear indication that the US has gauged Pakistan’s terror activities in the region.

The United States has announced a huge reduction of 19 crore-dollars, or about 1230 crore rupees in its aid to Pakistan.

Just a day earlier, Trump dealt Pakistan another blow, when he proposed to convert US military aid to Pakistan into financial debt. Experts say that the US has finally understood the threat that Pakistan poses.

It is clear that countries across the world have begun to realise that Pakistan is more a part of the terror infrastructure in the world, than its victim, and pressure has been brought to bear on Pakistan to end its duplicity.

But Pakistan refuses to understand the writing on the wall, and in such a situation, proportionate action by India to deter Pakistan can only be expected in the coming days.
