Cyclone Mora : Indian Navy rescued 27 Bangladeshi nationals

Indian Navy rescued 27 people in a major operation in Bangladesh which has been hit hard by Cyclone Mora, causing widespread destruction and rendering millions of people homeless.

People, including children and elderly, were rescued after they were found adrift at sea over 100 miles away from Bangladeshi city of Chittagong.

The Eastern Naval Command is deploying P-81 aircraft as part of its rescue operation in Bangladesh.

According to Navy officials, further search & rescue for more survivors is hampered due to prevailing rough weather in the area.

At least six persons were killed as Cyclone Mora made landfall in Bangladesh on Tuesday, damaging several houses.

Over half a million people have been evacuated from the coastal areas.

In India too, strong winds and heavy showers lashed much of Mizoram and Tripura.

Squally winds speed reaching 45-65 kilometre per hour also prevailed over South Assam, Meghalaya Manipur and along and off West Bengal cost.
