Result of proportional representation declared

The result of proportional representation of parliament election in Nepal has been declared.

According to Election Commission out of 110 seats under proportional representation, Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has won 41 seats, Nepali Congress 40, Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center) 17 andRashtriya Janta Party Nepal and Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal got 6 seats each. The House of Representatives, lower house of the parliament has total 275 members in which 165 elected directly and 110 through proportional representation.

The result of direct election had already been declared. In 275 member parliament, CPN (UML) and CPN (Maoist Center) Left Alliance has secured almost two third majority by winning 174 seats. The ruling Nepali Congress has got just 63 seats. Two major parties of Madhes, Rashtriya Janta Party Nepal won 17 and Sanghiya Samajwadi Forum Nepal has got 16 seats. Others have won 5 seats.The historic parliamentary and first ever provincial assembly elections were held in two phases on November 26 and December 7 last year. Now with thedeclaration of much awaited proportional representation result the new government under Left Alliance is likely to be formed soon.
