Defence Minister Sitharaman attends SCO defence ministers’ meet

Along with the EAM, Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also attended the SCO defence ministers’ meet.

Adressing the meet she underlined India’s committment to assist Afghanistan in regaining stability, including cooperation in building capabilities of Afghan security forces. Sitharaman also met Chinese Foreign minister.

There are other key points marking the Indian presence at the SCO. Informal talks between PM Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping, resumption of sharing of hydrological data of the Brahmaputra and Sutlej rivers, resumption of the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Natha Lu route were taken up during the EAM’s visit.
