EAM raises state sponsored terrorism issue at SCO meet
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj raised the issue of state sponsored terrorism strongly on Tuesday at the meeting of foreign ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation where Pakistan’s foreign minister was also present.
Sushma Swaraj also trained her guns on protectionism..Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also attended a SCO meet with her counterparts in Beijing in a build up to the two-day Modi-Xi informal summit meet in Wuhan starting Friday.
Participating in Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Foreign ministers’ meet, EAM Sushma launched a spirited attack on terrorism and its sponsors.
Without naming Pakistan she launched a veiled attack against the menace of terrorism all this right in presence of Pak Foreign minister who was attending the meet.
Terrorism is the enemy of mankind and the nations supporting and financially aiding the terror groups need to be identified. She categorically mentioned that the aim should not only be to eliminate terror groups but also take stringent action against the nations who provide safe havens to them along with financial aid.She also called for urgent reforms in the UN security council.
She said that while India is committed to working with SCO to strengthen its economic and investment ties, Protectionism in all its forms should be rejected and efforts should be made to discipline measures that constitute barriers to trade.
She also said that economic globalisation should be more open, inclusive, equitable and balanced for mutual benefits.
