India remembers her heroes on Kargil Vijay Diwas

The nation is paying tributes to the martyrs of the Kargil War as it celebrates the Kargil Vijay Diwas.

The main function of Kargil Vijay Diwas began at Drass War Memorial where Lt Gen Ranbir Singh Commander Northern Command, the Chief Guest of the Programme and all rank officers paid tribute to the martyrs by laying wreath.

Earlier, briefing of various points such as Tiger Hill, Trishul Height, Tolloling Top where the war was actually fought in 1999 from Lahmochan View Point at a height of 11,500 feet and there, the war veterans and serving war heroes briefed the media about their experiences during the war.

The programme followed Falling in of Guinness Book Record Holder, Shwet Ashwa Motor Cycle Expedition of the Military Police, who reached Drass War Memorial traveling a distance of 4,500 km from Bangalore.

A colourful and patriotic musical programme was also organized by the Bands of Ladakh Scouts and later, with the Lighting of the Lamp programme, the second day concluded.
