PHC rejects Justice Deepak Raj Joshee as next Chief Justice of Nepal

In Nepal, the Parliamentary Hearing Special Committee has rejected the nomination of Acting Chief Justice Deepak Raj Joshee to the post of Chief Justice. The committee rejected his nomination by two-third majority.

Ten members out of total 15 voted against Justice Joshee. The committee is having 9 members from the ruling Nepal Communist Party, while main opposition party, Nepali Congress have 4 members.
Federal Socialist Forum Nepal and Rashtriya Janata Party Nepal have one member each.

Justice Joshee is the senior most judge of Supreme Court and Constitutional Council had recommended his name as new Chief Justice in June this year.
