Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to embark on 2 day visit to Nepal
Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan will embark on a 2 day visit to Nepal on Friday.
After arriving at Kathmandu Pradhan will call on Acting Prime Minister of Nepal, Ishwor Pokharel. Later he will have bilateral talks with the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supply Matrika Prasad Yadav.
In the afternoon, Pradhan will meet Minister for Education, Science and Technology Girirajmani Pokhrael. Petroleum Minister will also pay a courtesy call to President Bidya Devi Bhandari. In the evening he will offer prayers at famous Pashupatinath temple.
On Saturday, Pradhan will visit Janakpur and worship at historic Janaki temple. He will also visit identified site for proposed Skill Development Center in Dhanushadham.
Before returning to New Delhi, Pradhan is scheduled to visit Amelkhganj to see the progress of Motihari-Amelkhganj oil pipeline.
During Pradhan’s earlier visit a MoU was signed between India and Nepal in April 2015 for the construction of the pipeline.
The 69 kilometer long pipeline will ensure smooth, cost effective and environment friendly supply of petroleum products to Nepal.
This would be the first transnational petroleum pipeline in South Asia and will be a significant step towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of improved regional connectivity among SAARC countries.
