Six terrorists killed in encounter with security forces in Shopian district

In Jammu and Kashmir, six unidentified terrorists were killed in a fierce gunfight that raged between terrorists and security forces at Batgund village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

A Defence spokesman said, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in Batgund village late last night, on the basis of specific input about the presence of terrorists in the area.

As the forces zeroed-in, the terrorists opened fire, triggering a gunfight. While six terrorists were killed, an Army jawan was injured.He, later, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. The operation has concluded and the identity of the slain terrorists is being ascertained.
