Inauguration of Honorary Consulate of Mexico in Bengaluru
The Embassy of Mexico in India is pleased to announce the inauguration of Mexico’s Honorary Consulate in Bengaluru.
H.E. Ms. Melba Pría, Ambassador of Mexico to India, inaugurated the Honorary Consulate in Bengaluru on 7th December 2018. On the opening of the new office, Ambassador Pría reiterated Mexico’s strong diplomatic relations with India and the importance of Mexican presence in the region.
Mr. Sandeep Kumar Maini, a distinguished entrepreneur, has been appointed as the Honorary Consul of Mexico with jurisdiction throughout the states of Karnataka and Telangana.
The Honorary Consulate in Bengaluru will have an important role in promoting economic and cultural ties between Mexico and India within the region. It will serve as liaison with the business community in these states, and cater to the increasing number of Mexicans visiting this part of India.
The opening ceremony was well attended by members of the diplomatic corps, businesspersons, experts from the fields of education, art and culture, as well as the Mexican community residing in the region.
On the occasion, H.E. Ambassador Pría met with a selected group of Indian entrepreneurs and gave a presentation on “Why Mexico: Business Opportunities between Mexico and India”.
With the inauguration of this new Honorary Consulate, Mexico now has five representations in India, including the Embassy in New Delhi, as well as Honorary Consulates in Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai. The jurisdiction for Mexico’s Honorary Consulate in Chennai has been revised to the states of Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu.
