Rain continues to wreak havoc in Nepal; death toll mounts to 67
In Nepal, heavy rain in various parts of the country has claimed 67 lives in last five days. Thirty persons are still missing and forty three have been injured due to floods and landslides triggered incessant rains.
Heavy downpour since Thursday has affected normal life in 28 districts, mostly in Tarai region.
Hundreds of houses have been damaged and thousands of people were displaced.
Transportation, electricity and water supply was also disrupted due to floods and landslides in many parts of the country.
The Government has directed concerned authorities to immediately resume all essential services.
Meanwhile, relief and rescue operation is underway. Nepal Police and Army have safely rescued over 1400 people so far.
According to Flood Forecasting Division water level in all major and medium rivers is likely to remain near caution mark. People living on the banks of rivers are advised to be on alert.
Meteorological Forecasting Division forecast rain at many places. There are also chances of heavy rainfall at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.
