Nation is celebrating 20th anniversary of the victory in the Kargil War today; Two decades ago, on July 26, Indian Armed forces secured one of the most dramatic and hard fought victories in history; The country remembers the extreme valour, sacrifice and exemplary courage of Indian soldiers today.

Each year India remembers its brave hearts on 26 July celebrated as Kargil Vijay Diwas. The country remembers the extreme valour, sacrifice and exemplary courage of Indian soldiers today.

President Ram Nath Kovind pays tribute to kargil war heroes at the Chinar Corps War Memorial in Srinagar on Kargil Vijay Diwas. Due to bad weather he could not travel to Dras.

President in a tweet said that “On Kargil Vijay Diwas, a grateful nation acknowledges the gallantry of our Armed Forces on the heights of Kargil in 1999. We salute the grit and valour of those who defended India, and record our everlasting debt to those who never returned. Jai Hind!

Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu paid tribute to the martyrs of Kargil War on the 20th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In a Tweet, the Vice President saluted all the heroes of the Kargil war and Operation Vijay who secured a valiant victory on 26th of July, 1999.

While paying tributes to heroes, Prime Minister Narendar Modi today shared pictures of his earlier visit to Kargil during Kargil War in 1999, where he met brave soldiers. Prime Minister said that “During the Kargil War in 1999, I had the opportunity to go to Kargil and show solidarity with our brave soldiers. This was the time when I was working for my Party in J&K as well as Himachal Pradesh. The visit to Kargil and interactions with soldiers are unforgettable.

Parliament paid tribute to brave soliders for their extreme valour, sacrifice and exemplary courage during Kargil War in 1999. Paying tribute, Lok Sabha Speaker, Om Birla congratulated the countrymen on Vijay Diwas.

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh and the three Service Vice Chiefs paid homage to Kargil martyrs at National War Memorial in the National Capital on the occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The central theme of this year’s celebrations is ‘Remember, Rejoice and Renew’. The Defence Minister in a tweet said that their unwavering courage and supreme sacrifice ensured the safety and sanctity of our borders.

While, Army Chief General Bipin Rawat along with Three Services Chiefs paid homage at Drass war memorial in jammu & Kashmir today. Later, interacting with media persons, army chief assured that nation that any task given to defence services will always be accomplished no matter how difficult it is.

While, remembering heroes, union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar in a tweet said that “Kargil is a symbol of India’s determination to fight terror, intrusion and Pakistan’s mischief. Salute to Atalji for taking determined action. Tributes to the brave hearts who laid their lives to keep our Nation safe.”

Besides, New Delhi and Jammu and Kashimr, various others programmes have also been organised in various parts of the country on the occasion of 20th Anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. Maharashtra Chief Minster Devendra Fadnavis laid wreath at Shaheed Samarak at colaba in Mumbai.

The day reminds the country of extreme valour, sacrifice and exemplary courage of Indian soldiers against an adversary which has the advantage of being pitched at an elevated position on the mountain peaks. President Ram Nath Kovind will visit War Memorial in Dras on Friday, to pay tribute to the soldiers who made their supreme sacrifice during 1999 kargil war.

Pakistani Army occupied the Kargil Heights and had plans to permanently extend the stay but they had not factored in the Indian Army’s commitment to gaurd the sovereignty of the country at any cost and the tactical air superiority of Indian Air Force.

Mirage 2000 of the Air Force and Bofors , Howziters of Indian army occupied with the bravery of our soldiers and ensured the victory against all odds.

The Chief of the Army Chief, General Bipin Rawat has assured the nation that Pakistan will not dare any such misadventure now as the Indian armed forces have a better surveillance capabilities and infrastructure to thwart any such attempt.

More than 500 Indian Soldiers were martryed while more than 1300 were injured. On 20th anniversary of Vijay Diwas, the entire nation will come forward to salute the bravery of our soldiers and pay rich tributes to them. Jai HInd.!
