EAM Dr. S. Jaishankar will arrive in Kathmandu today on a two day visit to Nepal
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar will arrive in Kathmandu today on a two day visit to Nepal. He will co-chair the 5th Meeting of India-Nepal Joint Commission with his Nepalese counterpart Pradeep Kumar Gyawali in the afternoon.
The Joint Commission will discuss entire gamut of bilateral relations especially economic partnership, trade and transit, connectivity, power, water resources and inundation.During the visit, Dr. Jaishankar will pay courtesy calls on President of Nepal Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli. He is also expected to meet senior leaders from various political parties. Nepal’s Minister for Foreign Affairs will host a dinner in honour of Dr. Jaishankar.
This will be the first high level visit from India since Prime Minister Narendra Modi started his second term in May this year. India and Nepal share a unique relationship of friendship and cooperation and bilateral relations are moving to newer heights with regular exchanges of high level visits.
