BJP National General Secretary Ram Madhav on Sunday alleged that jailed mainstream leaders are instigating people to pick up arms against the Indian state.
Addressing party convention at Tagore Hall in Srinagar attended by less than 300 workers today, Madhav asked the jailed politicians to fight for jobs for the locals and do politics over such issues.
Around nearly three dozen politicians including senior politicians Ali Mohammad Sagar, Naeem Akhtar, Sajjad Lone and Dr Shah Faesal are detained.
Akhtar and Lone were minister in PDP BJP government which collapsed last year.
BJP general secretary said the state was set on path to peace and development and those who become a stumbling block “will be dealt severely”.
The BJP leader said political process will start as and when situation improves. He asked jailed politicians to do politics for gaining the full statehood.
Madhav claimed whatever was done was “done” for the people and “whatever was happening before was happening for few families and few leaders,” again an apparent reference for jailed politicians.
It was the party’s first convention addressed by any senior BJP functionary in valley after the scrapping of Article 370.
