This was stated during swearing in of new state secretaries at a function in Colombo last evening.

Minister for public administration Mahinda Samarasinghe told our AIR correspondent that further discussions will be held in coming weeks with Indian government to make it a structured process.

He said the new government focus is on increasing productivity and efficiency for which they require international exposure of officials as well.

The minister said they will identify the institutions which will provide relevant training at required levels.

Currently, several Sri Lankan government officials get training programme in India under ITEC and ICCR scholarship programme but the new initiative will make it widespread.
