INS ‘Kavaratti’ will be commissioned in Visakhapatnam(India)
The last of four domestically built submarine warfare (ASW) stealth corvettes under Project 28 (Comorta Class) will be inducted into the Indian Navy by Army Chief of Staff Manoj Narawane at the Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam.
The envelope, described as the powerful stealth ASW Corvette, was designed by the Directorate of Naval Design (DND), an internal agency of the Indian Navy, and built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers in Kolkata (GRSE) and depicts the growing capabilities of the Indian Navy, the GRS, and Atmanirbhar emphasizes our national goal of India.
The ship will be introduced into the Navy as a ready-to-battle platform as it completes maritime tests of all systems fitted on board. With the introduction of the cover into its fold, the readiness of the Indian Navy will improve.
