Bangladesh inks an agreement with Serum Institute of India to procure COVID-19 vaccine
The Bangladesh government on Sunday signed an agreement with the Serum Institute of India (SII) to procure 3 crore doses of the Oxford / Astrogenene vaccine. The vaccine will be distributed in six installments of 50 lakh doses.
After signing the agreement, Health Minister Zaheed Malek told the media that the vaccine had been proven safe during trials in various countries, and that the news agency UNB reported that it was in favor of Bangladesh. He said the government was in talks with other countries to procure high doses of the covid-19 vaccine.
