Myanmar protests against military government spread to new areas
The protest has spread to new areas in the country as people are reported to come out against the government in Yangon, coastal city of Dawei in Tanintharyi region, Kachin state capital Myitkyina, Loikaw in Kayah state, Pakokku Township in Magway region, Paung township in Mon state, and in Karen state among others.
On Monday, the anti-government protesters marched in numbers bigger than what was seen on Sunday across Myanmar demanding removal of the military and release of detained leaders including Aung San Suu Kyi, reports Reuters.
In the largest city of the country Yangon, saffron robed monks marched with workers and students to protest against the military rule. The protests are reported to be the biggest since the Saffron Revolution of 2007 led by the Buddhist monks.
