Bangladesh launches special drive for second dose of mass vaccination

The government of Bangladesh launched a special nation wide drive for administering the second dose of the COVID 19 vaccine in the country on Thursday.

The special drive is specially organised for more than 80 lakh people who received their first dose of vaccination during the special campaign launched on September 28 coinciding with the birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has said that it aims to vaccinate all the people who received the first dose last month on 28-29 September in one day on 28 October.

Bangladesh Health Minister Zahid Maleque has announced that Bangladesh will start the vaccination of children aged 12-17 from November 1. It will initially be launched at some chosen centres in Dhaka which will be further expanded to the rest of the country. The children will get the US made Pfizer-BioNtech vaccine.
