U.S. calls for multilateral efforts against JeM
The US has reaffirmed its demand that Pakistan abide by its UN Security Council commitments to deny safe havens to terrorists and block their access to funds.
The US has urged both India and Pakistan to take immediate steps to de-escalate tensions adding that further military activity will exacerbate the situation.
US lawmakers have pointed fingers at Pakistan in having a direct role in escalalting tensions in the region.
House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer on Thursday said that the situation is a result of a Pakistan-based terrorist group’s brutal attack in Pulwama on Feb 14th.
Meanwhile, The United States has called for “multilateral efforts” against Jaish-e-Mohammed and asked international communities and countries to follow Washington’s lead in designating the terror organisations and its leadership.
While briefing the media, United States Ambassador-at-Large and Coordinator for Counter terrorism Nathan A. Sales stressed on cutting off all links that provide financial aid to JeM.
US has further underlined the importance of amplifying unilateral efforts and taking necessary steps to throttle the funding to JeM.
