Rohingya issue will be major topic of discussion during PM Hasina’s China visit, says B’desh FM

Rohingya crisis will come up a major topic during the visit of Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to China between July 2-6.

Speaking to media in Dhaka on Friday, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen said that Bangladesh believes that China will take a proactive role in resolving the Rohingya crisis.

He said Prime Minister Hasina will impress upon China that the Rohingya crisis could eventually spread pockets of radicalism throughout the region.

Dr. Momen said that there is a change of mindset now and the countries earlier opposed to the position of Bangladesh on this issue are now with it.

Prime Minister Hasina will take part in the World Economic Forum annual meeting known as summer Davos and hold bilateral talks with the Chinese President Xi Jingping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang.

Both countries are also likely to sign agreements and MoUs in different sectors ranging from power and ICT to tourism.
