Nepal: Situation in rain affected areas improving

In Nepal, situation in rain affected areas is slowly improving. Relief operation is underway and efforts are on to resume essential services.

According to Ministry of Home Affairs, 84 persons have lost their lives in last one week due floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains.

Thirty four persons are still missing and forty one have been injured. Normal life in 34 districts, mostly in Tarai region has been affected due to heavy rainfall.

More than 13000 household displaced by floods and landslides. Over 3000 people have been safely rescued by the security personnel.

Relief materiel is being distributed in the affected areas and medical teams have been sent to prevent waterborne diseases.

According to Flood Forecasting Division water level in all major and medium rivers is at alert or normal level and likely to recede tomorrow.

Weathermen forecast rain at some places in the country and there are chances of heavy rainfall at one or two places.
