Saturday Bomb attack a test case for bigger attack in future: Bangladesh Minister

The Saturday bomb blast near Science Laboratory in Dhaka could be a preparation for a bigger attack in future. This was stated today by the Awami League general secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader in Dhaka.

Talking to media persons he said that Saturday’s bomb attack could be a test case for bigger incidents in future. Responding to queries by journalists whether it was linked to IS, the minister said that no concrete comment can be made as of now as the investigation is continuing in the cases.

Earlier, US based terrorism watchdog agency SITE intelligence reported that IS has claimed the responsibility for the bomb attack. However, police dismissed the claim saying that the SITE Intelligence lacks credibility. The Police Headquarters believe the attack was perpetrated by domestic terrorists without any ties to IS.

Two policemen including one in the security of the Local Government Minister of Bangladesh Tazul Islam were injured on Saturday night in a bomb attack when the Minister was going to attend a function in Dhaka.
