Bangladesh to launch integrity campaign to end corruption: Minister Obaidul Quader

Bangladesh will conduct an integrity campaign against those involved in corruption. Speaking to the press in Dhaka on Tuesday, the ruling Awami League Secretary General and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader said that intelligence agencies have been asked to report on corruption anywhere in the country. Based on the report, the government will launch a campaign to eradicate corruption.

He warned that if necessary, an integrity campaign will also be conducted inside the Awami League to prevent corruption and wrongdoings.

Quader said that the government has adopted a policy of zero tolerance against corruption and no one will be spared.

Referring to the recent expulsion of Chhatra League president and general secretary, who is the Awami League’s student union president, he said that action was taken against him for alleged misconduct. He said that this was an unprecedented incident and the punitive action against him was the first such action in the history of Bangladesh.

Earlier, on Saturday, Chhatra League President Rejwanul Haque Chaudhary Shovan and General Secretary Golam Rabbani were removed from their posts following allegations of bribe from the VC of Jahangirnagar University in a development project.
