Hyderabad International Airport Facilitates the Vande Bharat Evacuation Flight from the UK

As part of the biggest ever off-shore evacuation drive of Indian Citizens under the Govt. of India’s Vande Bharat Mission, amid the Covid-19 pandemic lockdown, the stranded Indian citizens are getting airlifted from across the globe. Contributing towards this national cause, GMR led Hyderabad International Airport handled the fourth Vande Bharat arrivals evacuation flight from the United Kingdom (UK) in the early hours of 12th May 2020. The national carrier, Air India flight AI 1839, a Boing 773 aircraft from UK arrived via Delhi at the Hyderabad International Airport on 12th May at 02.21 AM (Morning) with 331 Indian citizens stranded in the UK. Passengers were serviced through the fully sanitized International Arrivals of the Main Passenger Terminal of GMR Hyderabad International Airport.

Later in the morning of 12th May 2020, the same aircraft departed as AI 1840 carrying 87 passengers from Hyderabad to Delhi, from where they were to be airlifted to the US. The flight departed at 05.31 AM. All passengers were serviced through the fully sanitized Interim International Departures Terminal of Hyderabad International Airport, which was kept ready for these passengers. All safety protocols were put in place to have a safe travel for the passengers including thermal screening, social distancing among others.
