Second wave of coronavirus infections inevitable in China
A leading infectious disease control expert in China says the spread of a second wave of coronavirus in China during the winter is ‘inevitable’ and will spread further in the country until a vaccine is available.
Dr Ng Wenhong, a prominent figure in the Shanghai struggle against COVID-19, made the remarks while speaking at a forum in Shanghai on Sunday.
His comments also come as China’s southwestern Yunnan province goes into “wartime mode” to resolve the spread of the cases. Since the onset of the health crisis late last year, more than 30 million coronavirus infections have been reported worldwide and nearly 950,000 people have died from Covid-19.
