China has not complied with the UNSC reforms demanded by the G-4 countries

China has once again questioned the permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council.

At a press conference in Beijing, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman decided not to adhere to the reforms in the Security Council requested by the G-4 countries.

He noted that there was immense division and broad consensus on the establishment of reforms in the UNSC.

However, he noted that Beijing was ready to work with other UN members to find a package solution that would address the interests and concerns of all parties through dialogue and negotiations.

India and other G4 countries have called for the launch of text-based talks without delay at yesterday’s virtual session of the 75th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

They lamented in a statement that there was no meaningful progress in the intergovernmental talks.

It may be recalled that China supports intergovernmental negotiations
