Hong Kong police have arrested 69 people on the occasion of China National Day
Hong Kong police on Thursday arrested 69 people for protesting against a national security law imposed on Beijing’s semi – autonomous territory on June 30 this year.
Hong Kong police said in a tweet that he was arrested for an illegal meeting. Protesters chanted pro-democracy slogans despite the participation of Chief Executive Carrie Lam at a National Day event amid tight security. Due to the epidemic of violence and restrictions on the holding of the previous drills mass gatherings have been banned by the police.
Police conducted stop and search operations and tried to stop the crowd. According to media reports, protesters wanted to return 12 Hong Kong people arrested at sea by Chinese authorities in August. Those arrested for crossing the border illegally and committing border crimes are now in custody in the mainland Shenzhen. Everyone in Hong Kong is suspected of committing crimes in connection with last year’s protests.
