The President of Kyrgyzstan resigned after protests over the controversial election
Kyrgyzstan President Zuron Zinbekov has resigned after days of protests over the controversial parliamentary elections, calling for an end to clashes and bloodshed.
In a statement posted on the presidential website on Friday, Genebekov said he did not want to go down as the president who allowed bloodshed and gunfire against his people in the history of Kyrgyzstan. He said the decision to resign had been taken.
Newly-appointed Prime Minister Sadir Zaparov and other opposition politicians have called for their supporters to be driven away from the capital.
