China announces sanctions on 28 officials of former Trump administration
China announced sanctions on 28 former Trump administration officials, moments after they left office on Wednesday, including former secretary of state, Mike Pompeo.
In a statement released just minutes after President Joe Biden was inaugurated, Beijing slapped travel bans and business restrictions on Pompeo, national security adviser Robert O’Brien and UN ambassador, Kelly Craft among others.
The sanctioned individuals and their immediate family members are prohibited from entering the mainland, Hong Kong and Macao of China. They and companies and institutions associated with them are also restricted from doing business with China. The sanctions underscore Beijing’s antipathy toward a US administration it regarded as hostile
