Massive success for Sukma anti-naxal operations

A major joint operation by state police forces and CRPF launched in the core Naxal areas along the borders of Bijapur and Sukma District in Chattisgarh resulted in about 15 naxals killed and several others injured.

Around 150 naxals were involved in this encounter a number of whom were from neighbouring states.

This was the retribution for the Sukma massacre that left 25 CRPF personnel martyred. Locals voiced their anguish over Naxals disrupting development work and were key in providing intelligence for this joint operation. Many of the naxals killed were most likely part of the 300 strong Naxal contingent that carried out the attack at the CRPF road opening party at Burkapal.

The govt. has lived up to its promise that the sacrifice of Sukma martyrs will not go in vain. This comes after Home Minister Rajnath Singh along with Chief Ministers and top security, intelligence and administration officials of 10 naxal violence affected states held a brainstorming session.

Out of which emerged an 8-pronged ‘SAMADHAN’ or solution to tackle red terror at the conclave. The Home Minister pitched for an aggressive strategy to take on the naxals. He stressed on the need for a unified coordination and command to wipe out Maoist violence.

The Centre is running several schemes and programmes for development of naxal violence hit states.

Clearly, the govt. is seeking to create a new unity of purpose & aggressive strategy to collectively tackle the naxal menace throughout the country and the results are there to be seen in less than 10 days.
