Nepal Parliament prorogued after 381 days

Speaker Onsari Gharti announced in the house Thursday that President Bidya Devi Bhandari has prorogued the current session of the Parliament on the recommendation of the government.

This was the longest session in Nepal’s parliamentary history. The session was commenced on May 3 last year.

In her address speaker said that session proved important in terms of implementing the new constitution. She expressed gratitude towards the government, election commission, political parties and people of Nepal for successful completion of the first phase of local elections.

Speaker also urged government and political parties to create conducive environment for the second phase of local polls.
