4 Nation Tour of India’s PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Germany, his first stop on a four nation Europe visit. He will hold extensive talks with German Chancellor Angela Merkel at her official Meseberg Country Retreat where the two leaders would discuss issues of regional and global importance. Germany is a leading partner in trade, technology and investment, and PM Modi and Chancellor Merkel will interact with top business leaders of both countries to further strengthen trade and investment ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Germany on the first leg of his 4-nation Europe visit to a rousing welcome.
On the first day of his visit, PM Modi will attend a dinner hosted by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, at her official Meseberg Country Retreat.
On the second day of the visit, Prime Minister Modi will hold talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel under the framework of the 4th IGC – India-Germany Intergovernmental consultations, and call on President Frank-Walter Steinmeier.
In a pre-departure statement on Facebook, PM Modi wrote, “I am confident that this visit will open a new chapter in our bilateral cooperation with Germany and further deepen our Strategic Partnership.”
Prime Minister Modi and German Chancellor Angela Merkel will chart out a future roadmap of cooperation with focus on trade and investment, security and counter-terrorism, innovation and science & technology, skill development, urban infrastructure, railways and civil aviation, clean energy, development cooperation, health and alternative medicine. Many agreements are expected to be signed. Apart from this, PM Modi and Merkel will interact with top business leaders.
PM Modi wrote in a Facebook post, “Germany is our leading partner in trade, technology and investment. In Berlin, Chancellor Merkel and I will interact with top business leaders of both countries to further strengthen our trade and investment ties.”
There are 1600 German companies active in India, and nearly 600 joint ventures with Indian companies. Germany is a manufacturing leader of high standing and can play an important role in PM’s Make in India and Skill India initiatives.
Both countries are major global players, large economies and democracies. Their strategic partnership is based on democratic values and a commitment to an open, inclusive and rules-based global order, including the expansion of the UN Security Council and terrorism.
Whether it is surgical strike at LOC or China’s one belt one road project, Germany has always supported India in various important agendas. And the second visit by Prime Minister Modi will only take ties between two nations to the next level.
