India for more engagement with BRICS
India has pitched for greater engagement with BRICS nations which have steadily expanded the forum’s agenda from financial matters to security and counter terrorism issues.
Addressing BRICS meet in Beijing, MoS for External Affairs General V K Singh said BRICS countries have reached significant understanding on security and counter terrorism issues.
He added that India attached great importance to BRICS and continues to work closely with all its partners with mutual trust, respect and transparency to further enhance our bonds.
VK Singh held a bilateral meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Besides China, Foreign ministers of Russia, South Africa and Brazil also attended the BRICS foreign ministers meeting which is expected to finalise the agenda for the Xiamen summit.
