The first time ever the historic Chain Bridge was lit up with Indian colours and motifs on International yoga day
To promote ancient Indian tradition of de-stressing through control of the body and mind, the Indian Embassy had successfully hosted a three day 2nd edition of “Ganga-Danube: Cultural Festival of India” and 3rd International Day of Yoga in 15 cities of Hungary from 23-25th June 2017.
The fiesta was formally inaugurated on 23rd June, jointly by Mr Peter Cseresznyes, Hungarian Minister of State for Labour Affairs and President of Parliamentary Friendship Group with India and Ambassador of India Rahul Chhabra at the prestigious Urania Theatre.
Indian Ambassador to Hungary Rahul Chhabra said that for the first time ever the historic Chain Bridge was lit up with Indian colours and motifs throughout the night of 21st June. It carried animated symbols of IDY and Ganga-Danube Festival.
A glimpse of Indian culture was showcased through Indian classical and folk dances. The performances were highly acclaimed by the over 350 people present.
Mr.Chhabra further mentioned that the Festival kickstarts global celebrations of 70th anniversary of India’s independence by Ministry of Culture.
“In Szentendre, which is a historic city on the banks of River Danube, a ceremony of mixing the waters of Ganga and Danube will be performed symbolising the confluence of two cultures,” Rahul Chhabra said.
During the ceremony, Ganga Sutra and Ganga-Danube Aarti will be performed along with Shanti mantra.
The cities where both the festivals would be held included Budapest, Balatonfured, Debrecen, Eger, Esztergom, Gyor, Nagykanizsa, Nagykoros, Miscolc and Pecs.
The embassy also organised the third International Day of Yoga in three cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) i.e. Sarajevo, Banja Luka and Mostar from 17-18th June 2017.
