Army Chief: Army ready to call Pakistan’s nuke bluff
Replying to a question on China, the Army Chief said India will not allow its territory to be invaded by anyone, asserting that China may be a powerful country but India is not a weak nation either
Army Chief Gen. Bipin Rawat has said the force was ready to call Pakistan’s “nuclear bluff” and cross the border to carry out any operation if asked by the government.He was responding to a question during a press conference on possibility of Pakistan using its nuclear weapons in case the situation along the border deteriorates.
Replying to a question on China, the Army Chief said India will not allow its territory to be invaded by anyone, asserting that China may be a powerful country but India is not a weak nation either. Army chief also said that the time has come for India to shift focus to its northern border.Bipin Rawat cautioned that the country cannot allow its neighbors to drift towards China.
He also said that both India and China are very keen on having a hotline between the Indian Army’s Director General of Military Operations and the Chinese officer holding similar position.
