India hot spot of digital innovation: PM Modi

Taking his government’s digital push further, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the World Congress for IT in Hyderabad via video conference.

This event is being organised in India for the first time. Several CEOs from Fortune 500 companies and other top executives besides over 5,000 delegates are attending the conference. Prime Minister used the platform to highlight his govt’s digital drive. He launched a historic initiative to re-skill and up-skill the IT workforce of India as per changing technologies. The Future Skills platform will ensure competitive advantage of Indian IT in the world as per changing technologies.

Digital India is about digital inclusion for digital empowerment, aided by digital infrastructure for digital delivery of services.

He launched a skill platform at the World Congress for Information Technology. The aim.skill development in the IT field. PM then delivered the inaugural address. He said that in the 21st century, digital technology is acting as an enabler in creating a seamless, integrated world.

Prime Minister described India as a technological hotspot. He hailed Digital India India as a programme that has gone beyond being a Government initiative, to become a way of life. Technology has become an inseparable part of people’s lives and is helping in inclusive growth of the nation. PM reiterated that while most Government initiatives depend on a Government push, Digital India is succeeding because of the people’s pull.

PM Modi listed his govt’s initiatives in the IT and digital sector:

— Pradhan Mantri Rural Digital Literacy Mission aims at making 60 million adults digitally literate in rural India. 10 million people have already been trained under this.

— The Jan Dhan Aadhar and Mobile trinity has led to a saving of Rs 57,000 crore and to transparency in govt functioning.

— E-nam an online agricultural haat has 6.6 million registered farmers and 470 agri markets connected.

— Umang app provides a single platform access to pan India e-Government services.

— National Skill Development Mission is preparing young talent to be part of the fourth Industrial revolution.

Information Technology Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad also stressed on the need for making substantial initiatives for re-skilling youth in the wake of emerging new technologies.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s message was that technology, if used well for public good, can deliver lasting prosperity to mankind and a sustainable future for our planet.a message that saw a standing ovation from one and all.
