PM Modi praises contribution of people of Cutchi leva Patel samaj in development of Africa for last 125 years; Addressing Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj in Nairobi, via video conferencing, PM says, Indians living abroad are true national ambassadors in strengthening India’s relations with other countries.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of the Shree Cutchi Leva Patel Samaj in Nairobi.
Prime Minister lauded the contribution of Kutchi Leva Patel Community in various welfare activities and the development of East Africa. He also recalled the role of members of the Indian community in Kenya’s freedom movement.
Prime Minister Modi appreciated the contribution of Kutchi Samaj towards all round development especially their role in reconstruction and rehabilitation after the earthquake in Kutch in 2001.
He highlighted the efforts made by the government towards the transformation of Gujarat.
Kutch is known for turning challenges into opportunity. I have seen this during the earthquake which hit Kutch in 2001. Today Kutch in Gujarat has become a major tourist point. Rannotsav not only highlights the culture of the region but is also a source of employment and income.Kutch has been completely transformed. RO RO service at Ghogha Dahej has begun and we shall also start RO Ro service in Kutch.
Prime Minister emphasized that the engagement of India and African Countries has been on the rise. He said India has announced 10 billion dollar aid for development of Africa. PM highlighted the special ties India has with Kenya. He said India is investing in various sectors in Kenya from food processing to skill education.
India is also focusing on strengthening our ties with kenya. We are investing in various sector like food processing to skill to education in Kenya.
Prime Minister also spelt out the efforts made by the External Affairs Ministry to help PIOs connect with the Indian government. The PIO and OCS ministry has been merged with the External Affairs Ministry to break silos of functioning.
We have merged OCI and PIO holders which has benefited lakhs of Indians living abroad. MEA has launched Madad portal for real time monitoring of PIO-OCI grievances. Pravasi Bhartiya Divas is organised regularly. Regional Pravasi Divas is also being organised. Our govt is a living example of the change in thinking and approach over the last 4 years.
