All set for historic Singapore Summit tomorrow
The stage is set for a historic summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korea’s Kim Jong Un in Singapore tomorrow; Two leaders arrive in Singapore ahead of the keenly awaited June 12 meeting to diffuse tension owing to North Korea’s nuclear program.
The US President and his delegation has arrived in Singapore for the summit level meet with North Korean leader. The delegation includes Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser John Bolton and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly. Trump insisted last week that the summit would “not be just a photo op”, saying it would help forge a “good relationship” that would lead to a “process” towards the “ultimate making of a deal”.
The North Korean leader also reached Singapore on Sunday. Kim and Trump are set to hold their historic meeting tomorrow at the resort island of Sentosa, with North Korea’s nuclear programme at stake over possible economic gains from Washington.
Ahead of the summit meet with the US President, the North Korean leader on Sunday held bilateral talks with Singapore Prime Minister. Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana.
Singapore, the host country for the summit, has expressed optimism that the meeting between the two leaders will alleviate tensions in the region.
