Modi returns home after attending SCO Summit; Qingdao declaration signed
PM Narendra Modi returns home after attending the SCO Summit in Chinese city of Qingdao; Addressing the Summit, PM stresses the need for regional connectivity; Says, connectivity in our neighborhood and the SCO region is our priority.
The SCO summit concluded with the adoption of the Qingdao declaration. The declaration calls for implementing the three-year plan to combat terrorism, separatism and extremism. It also calls for implementation of the treaty on long-term good neighbourliness, friendship and co-operation.
SCO Member states also exchanged documents on major issue like economic cooperation, security, regional peace and the ways to tackle terrorism. A total of 22 documents have been signed by the SCO countries, including preventing radicalization of youth and prevention of narcotics. The SCO Action plan for 2019 to 2020 was also signed.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned home on Sunday night after attending the SCO Summit in Chinese city of Qingdao. During his two-day visit to China, the Prime minister also held bilateral talks with the leaders of SCO member nations including the Chinese President Xi Jinping.
